ImagineK12 Launches 10 More EdTech Startups
Palo Alto edtech accelerator ImagineK12 held its third demo day on Thursday. The cohort of 10 startups made competent pitches. Some, like content sharing app Padlet, have good early traction.
EdTech 10: Springtime Trifecta
This week marked the end of the spring conference trifecta of SXSWedu, ASU/GSV Summit and NSVF Summit. We’re returning home for awhile with new scratches on our suitcases, new Clever t-shirts just in time for spring, and a renewed energy to continue the important work we are all doing to bring the best learning opportunities to students everywhere. This week’s Top Ten provides evidence of everyone from states to start-ups rolling up their sleeves to do just that.
Hacker Communities, Local Communities
Mariano Ulibarri, director of the hacker space Parachute Factory in New Mexico, heard about Hacker Scouts in the news just a few months ago. His immediate reaction was to start a troop locally – so he did.
NewSchools & New Tools: PD, Games & MOOCs
Tom Friedman summed up what we saw as a major theme of the conference by saying “With edtech, don't lose focus on what matters most - great teachers.” This theme seemed to be echoed in the sessions our team attended and hallway conversations.

PublicSchoolOptions.org President Beth Purcell, a parent and former teacher, announced the organization’s annual American Pioneer of Teaching Award contest here in a guest post. Students Believe in Mobile Devices
Technology is transforming education and nine in ten students agree it's changing the way they learn. According to a Harris Interactive study completed on behalf of Pearson, students understand mobile devices will change their education experience, make learning more fun and want to see more of devices used in their classrooms.
