Edu-lutions (Happy New Year)

Res·o·lu·tion (noun)
1. a firm decision to do or not to do something.
2. the action of solving a problem, dispute, or contentious matter.

Educators day in and day out resolve to help all students succeed in meeting their goals – but what about YOUR goals? What are your resolutions?

For many educators, the New Year marks at just about or just past halfway through the school year. As we all get caught up in the busyness of our jobs and lives, it can be easy to forget what we set out to do and the goals we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year.

So this New Years we encourage you to recommit or redefine your goals. Maybe you are crushing your goal of meeting with each student for at least 5 minutes a day and want to keep it up – commit to that. Maybe you wanted to try a project-based learning unit but haven’t gotten to it – make that your edulution. (get it, like resolution? Only better!)

Take the time to celebrate your practice and student outcomes with this reflection sheet. Snap a photo of your Edu-lution and share it on Facebook and Twitter using #EduResolution. Happy New Year!
