Getting Smart Podcast | Implementing Place-Based Education

In July, Getting Smart launched Learning & The Power of Place–a thought leadership campaign designed to raise awareness of Place-Based Education (PBE).   We’ve been overwhelmed by the response of the education community–with 50+ guest blog contributions and 1000s of uses of the #PlaceBasedEd hashtag.

We took on this effort because we wanted to raise awareness about PBE as powerful, personalized learning models that can boost access and outcomes to better equip learners with skills to address the challenges of the modern world.

We partnered with Teton Science Schools as our expert PBE advisors and headed to their four campuses to learn more.  In Season 2, Episode 16 of the Getting Smart podcast, we shared our “Audio Field Trip” to immerse listeners in Place-Based Education. This follow-up podcast shares the perspectives of the teachers, leaders and learners there with advice on how to implement PBE in your classroom, school, campus and community.

The podcast also mentions our Place-Based Education Publications. The first one What Is Place-Based Education & Why Does It Matter? and the forthcoming “Quick Start Guides” on Place-Based Education.

This blog is part of our “Place-Based Education” blog series. To learn more and contribute a guest post for the series, check out the PBE campaign page. Join in the conversation on social media using #PlaceBasedEd. For more on Place-Based Education, see:
