Getting Smart Podcast | Cultivating Young Mathematicians

I would argue that early math learning has huge potential for students in the 21st century.
My hypothesis is that the math classroom is actually the perfect classroom to practice the skills that we know are becoming increasingly important for future success.
In this episode of the Getting Smart Podcast, I wanted to investigate this a little further and try to better understand how blended learning can be leveraged to cultivate young mathematicians.

As we think about what preparing students really means, rethinking math education could be key. So many skills can be built and nurtured in relation to math: collaboration, problem solving, persistence, critical thinking…and the list goes on.
We need students who are not afraid to try and fail, we need students who are ready to think critically and think of unique and creative ways to solve problems. In a subject that has traditionally polarized students (along with teachers and parents), blended and personalized learning will open up new doors for ALL students.
