A New Way Forward

A couple of weeks ago one of America’s most thoughtful school leaders, Joe Erpelding, Design 39 Campus, reached out to a handful of education leaders and asked, “ What if we created an online, learner-centered, crowdsourced even to support our educational community during these uniquely challenging times?”

Everyone on the email chain responded affirmatively and today registration opens for A New Way Forward, a virtual summit that invites educators, parents, and students to explore new and powerful ways to think about education and continue learning even in this challenging time.

The free virtual dialog will be held April 28, 12:00-2:00 PST. Register here.

Rapid-fire keynotes include Carlos Moreno, Big Picture Learning; former Albemarle County Superintendent Pam Moran; University of Kansas Professor Yong Zhao, and Maya Green, an incoming Stanford freshman.

Tom Vander Ark will moderate a panel of leading superintendents including Pat Deklots, Kettle Moraine School District, and David Miyashiro, Cajon Valley USD.They’ll be joined by Kim Smith, League of Innovative Schools, to discuss the path forward.

Mari Jones and Michelle Pledger from the Deeper Learning Hub will take you through the steps of designing a project based on student interests. Participants will leave with a step-by-step guide to implement this project in their own homes!

Host organizations include Boundless, Education Reimagined, Altitude Learning, Big Picture Learning, and Design 39 Campus, Poway School District.
