Cook Up a Batch of Blended Learning With Us

Are you headed to SXSWedu? Looking forward to learning more about blended learning? Perhaps you’ve already heard a lot about it and now you are ready to really get hands-on with it? Then please plan to join us at the “Cook Up a Batch of Blended Learning Workshop” on Tuesday, March 4 from 11:30AM – 1:30PM in the Hilton Austin Downtown Salon E.

Nathan Martin (Digital Learning Now!) Carri Schneider (Getting Smart) and Alison Anderson (Getting Smart) are just 3 of the master chefs that will kick off the designing of next gen school models- in the style of Food Network’s game show, Chopped. The workshop will begin with a brief introduction to blended learning implementation (see the BLIG 2.0), including key decisions schools need to make as well as an overview of blended learning schools. Participants will then work in groups to design their own elementary or secondary blended model.

Time is of the essence, just like it is on Chopped. The timer will start up on the big screen and the groups will only have 60 minutes to create their dream school- personalizing and deepening learning for all students. No worries, though. Attendees won’t be expected to create their signature dish without help! There will be plenty of resources provided- the most important of those will be the actual “chefs” in the room.

We are excited to have students from Del Valle who are attending SXSWedu as guest bloggers join us in the session. These students have extensive experience with online learning and are in the midst of redesigning their own school model in order to accommodate the best forms of blended learning. These students will be the best consultants anyone could ask for. They will offer the insight and advice we need to create the best blended model – one that actually works for the students!

So crack open the BLIG 2.0, gather up your laptop or tablet and head on over to the Cook Up A Batch of Blended Learning Workshop while you are SXSWedu. You’ll leave with resources and a plan to start implementing blended learning into your school immediately. Just don’t forget your apron.

If you can’t join us next Tuesday, tune into the hashtag #ChoppedEDU to stay connected to what is happening live! We hope this session is really a conversation starter… focusing on what it takes to truly implement blended learning.
