Staff Picks: Ed Reform, Good Work, and Getting Smart

Tom Picks the Roadmap for Reform, the Nation’s Digital Learning Report Card and the 10 Elements of High Quality Digital Learning

Tom says, “This week the Foundation for Excellence in Education released a Roadmap for Reform. When combined with the Nation’s Digital Learning Report Card it provides detailed guidance for state policy makers in every state.  These reports build on the 10 Elements of High Quality Digital Learning released last year and are an enormous contribution to the field.”

Karen Picks “Good Work: Build a Tractor” by Tom Vander Ark

Karen says, “My pick this week is Tom’s blog post “Good Work: Build a Tractor.”  I’ve long looked at this photo and also have it serve as a reminder of how hard our grandparents worked to establish their lives and provide for their families. Tom’s Good Work series is a product of these lives.  It shows in his loyalty, his determination, his honesty, his commitment to community and the education of all children.”

Caroline Picks Getting Smart: How Digital Learning is Changing the World

Caroline says, “My pick this week is the release of Tom’s book, Getting Smart: How Digital Learning is Changing the WorldThis book was years in the making and consumed much of Tom’s life during the writing, editing and publication stages. It was truly a family affair to get the book launched, we spent holidays editing and reviewing the text. I hope the book is as helpful to others as it has been for me. Like Tom, I’m extremely optimistic that personal digital learning will forever change our education system. All students, for the first time in history have a chance at personalized learning that adapts to fit their learning style. And they are now able to learn anytime, anywhere thanks to great technology that has expanded the school day and year. I’m so proud of Tom and his book and cant wait for Getting Smart 2.0, which I’m sure he’ll start writing soon!”

Sarah Picks “I’m Getting Smart”

Sarah says, “This week we kicked off ‘I’m Getting Smart’ on Facebook, Twitter and our website. We’re excited to share the ways that we’re getting smart with others around the globe.
