There is a direct connection between increasing graduation rates and student readiness. Students need opportunities to develop skills for success in a changing economy.
The world of work is quickly redefining what it means to be Really Ready. Students need to be great communicators and critical thinkers who can tackle novel problems.
In order to prepare students to be Really Ready for their futures, we must define what that means for them now — not just once they graduate high school.
In this paper, we describe why we need to prepare middle and high school students for college, work and life.
We also share information about why this is important for all students — not just those already well on their way to success in college or career.
Lastly, we provide districts and educators with strategies and solutions that they might consider implementing to address the necessary Really Ready skills with their students.
