About
The Issaquah Microschool aims to transform the educational experience through an innovative, project-based, community connected environment that is collaborative and student centered. They cultivate a learning environment where every student can understand their strengths, develop their skills across multiple disciplines and contribute positively to their community and the world.
This model offers a hybrid experience with opportunities to learn through a traditional model inside the walls of a classroom balanced with learning in the microschool.
What’s in store for Issaquah Microschools?
Issaquah plans to open multiple microschools across the district to provide hybrid learning opportunities for students, especially those showing signs of school disengagement and early at-risk indicators of failing in our current traditional model of education. This model will provide a balanced experience with opportunities to learn in the traditional model inside the walls of a classroom with the hands on and real world experience of learning in our community. To guide the learner experience, students will learn though 6-8 week inter-disciplinary Design Labs.
“Our microschool is a dynamic learning community where education transcends the classroom-rooted in hands-on projects, fueled by student passions, enriched by outdoor exploration, and designed to empower students to discover who they are as they craft their future selves thorugh the arts, engineering, and beyond.”
