Startup Weekend Education Now Powered by 4.0 Schools

Our friends at 4.0 Schools announced this week they will be operating Startup Weekend Education and Workshops across the US “working with local organizers to ignite local education entrepreneurship communities”. According to the announcement, 4.0 Schools is now partnering with the Techstars team to run Education Entrepreneurs’ programming, including Startup Weekend Education.

We are big fans of Startup Weekend Education and have most recently covered events in Phoenix and the Twin Cities. Startup weekends are “54-hour events where developers, designers, marketers, product managers, and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and launch startups.” As our own Mary Ryerse said, “What makes the education edition so special is that it brings educators and parents into the mix with one common goal, the betterment of education.”

The partnership between 4.0 and Education Entrepreneurs has already proven successful. Here are four great examples of entrepreneurs that benefited from both programs:

  • Fantasy Geopolitics: Think fantasy football for world news, social studies, and literacy standards.
  • Classtracks: Blended online foreign language
  • Vidcode: Connects computer science to teen girls’ lives and hobbies, empowering a new generation of coders.
  • ImagiLabs: ChallengeBox game blends digital learning with offline tinkering

4.0 based in New Orleans is focused on creating amazing programs for early-stage education entrepreneurs. This programming addition is part of a constant focus on iteration that makes 4.0 unique.
