Tim Hilborn is Chief Instructional Officer for TRECA, a support center for 36 school districts in north central Ohio. As noted in July, they create remarkable learning opportunities for EdLeaders. Tim and team have been putting TED-Ed to good use to help principals and superintendents develop and plan for next gen learning.

TED (short for Technology, Entertainment, and Design) is a conference but has become even better know for short videos on “ideas worth spreading.” TED-Ed, TED’s education initiative, allows anyone to create a lesson worth sharing. The platform allows users to take any TED Talk, TED-Ed Lesson or educational video and easily create customized questions and discussions around the video. The platform prompts lesson creators to add links that encourages learners to watch, think, dig deeper, and discuss. The lessons can be distributed publicly or privately with tracked use. Nearly 100,000 lessons have been shared to date.

Tic “TED” Toe. Team TRECA created a tic-tac-toe board and invited groups of EdLeaders to create lessons in at least three of these categories.  Click to view a sample lesson:

TRECA encourages EdLeaders to build lessons including at least 5 questions using all question types. A tic-TED-toe board is clever way to get EdLeaders to learn by doing and teaching.

There are lots of great resources on TED-ED, here are 3 more examples:
