New Paper: Deeper Learning For Every Student Every Day
Last month we launched a preview of our new white paper, “Deeper Learning For Every Student Every Day,” and today we’ve launched the full paper including all 20 of our Deeper Learning school profiles. The paper is dedicated to dispelling the myths around Deeper Learning and showing it can happen anywhere with any students and all teachers. After interviewing each school we’ve provided readers with a diverse national distribution. Each of the 20 profiled schools offer advice and best practices of how they’ve created a Deeper Learning culture for their students and teachers.
In addition to the paper, we also released an infographic, “Deeper Learning Making Every Student & Teacher a Superhero, Every Day” and will soon release a Deeper Learning video to accompany the paper and infographic. This paper also complements the previously-released How Digital Learning Contributes to Deeper Learning white paper and infographic from Getting Smart.
All of the schools profiled had unique traits and strong leadership – here is a sample of what a few school leaders had to say about their schools:
According to Dr. Amy Swann, Principal at Bate Middle School said the intention of Deeper Learning is to “go above and beyond the national and state standards to ensure that our students have the skills they need to be successful beyond our building, throughout life.”
Amy Anderson, senior director at the Donnell-Kay Foundation, a founder of The Odyssey School in Denver, Colorado said, “Odyssey’s curriculum stresses hands-on learning, with students training in real-world situations, because when students learn with purpose and relevancy, they achieve on all levels.”
“Technology allows us to rethink the way content learning occurs,” explains Summit Rainier and Tahoma Executive Director David Richards. “Teachers should be spending their time coaching students on Deeper Learning and facilitating Project-Based Learning.”
