Is your kindergartner using an iPad for reading and math? If not, it may not be long before he or she does. Education leaders and educators across the U.S. and globe meet in Auburn, Maine this week to discuss iPads for kindergarteners.
Leveraging Learning: The iPad in Primary Grades Institute is the first national conference of its kind to look at the ways that tablets can be leveraged for reading and math proficiencies.
Former Governor Angus King, Maine Commissioner of Education Stephen Bowen and former Auburn Superintendent Tom Morrill will discuss the future of education and their stories in becoming one of the biggest supports of iPads in early education. Other presenters will inclue members of Auburn’s Advantage 2014 Leadership Team, staff from the Maine Learning Technology Initiative and other local experts.
The conference will look at the ways that Auburn has successfully implemented the iPads into its curriculum and seen results from its program. It’s a great chance for districts considering iPad implementation to get first hand exposure to a school that’s had lots of success.
Leveraging Learning will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Riverwatch and the Auburn School Department in Auburn, Maine November 16, 2011 to November 18, 2011. For more about the conference, visit institute2011.auburnschl.edu/Agenda.html.
