10 Top Educational Apps for Students

Finding apps to download is easy. Finding educational apps that are actually functional, fun and free is a different story.
Here are ten free educational apps currently available (with at least a total of four out of five stars) for students in preschool through high school:

  1. ABC Alphabet Phonics: Helps children learn the ABCs by sight, sound and touch.
  2. ABCMouse.com: This app teaches through a variety of interactive learning activities including games, books, songs, art activities, puzzles and offline printables – all of which can be monitored by parents through an innovative Progress Tracker.
  3. Bright World Ocean Forests eBook: There are several eBook topics available, but check out the realistic underwater environments in this version with games and STEM-based vocabulary.
  4. Quizlet – Flashcards & Study Tools: This app allows you to create your own flashcards or choose from millions created by other Quizlet users on thousands of subjects.
  5. BrainPOP Featured Movie: Watch a different animated movie every day, then test new knowledge with an interactive quiz.
  6. True or False: Quiz Battle: Play 1000’s of astounding questions in 15 categories with four rounds of multiple choice questions followed by a bonus round of True or False facts.
  7. Yousician – Learn to play the piano, guitar, bass or ukulele. The app listens to you play and gives instant feedback on your accuracy and timing.
