Infographic: The Digital Promise

OnlineSchoolg, org recently published the infographic “The Digital Promise,” which highlights the Digital Promise initiative launched by the U.S. Department of Education this September.
Digital Promise was created to identify and advance the technologies in education that improve learning. It’s a forward thinking initiative that retroactively is changing education, which has fallen behind in its adoption of new technologies compared to other major industries.
The infographic follows the projected future of a student born in 2000 and expected to graduate college in 2022. It looks at the ways that major industries are advancing in technologies and how our current classrooms are failing to meet future demand.
The data here estimates that for ever $2 spent on technology at major companies, 2 cents is spent on technology in education. Education is underspending. Our industries are already feeling the repercussions of education falling behind. The U.S. was unable to fill thousands of jobs due to a lack of applicants with adequate technological skills.
The infographic says that more technology needs to be implemented into classrooms in multiple capacities:

  • Personalized learning
  • Anytime, anywhere learning
  • Tutoring software
  • Video games, and
  • Online tutors.
