Seeing more platform plays these days including social learning, adaptive content, and blogging. Powerful application development platforms are making it so much easier to develop new apps–you can see the difference in 09 code compared to older vintage.
Guaranteach was incubated by Christensen-inspired Innosight. They have more than 20,000 short math videos coded by level and learning modality. Not sure about subscription model.
Edmodo is a micro-blogging site built on weekends and evenings by a couple guys in Chicago. It’s getting nice back-to-school traffic.
Saw a couple informal learning deals–an informal learning ecosystem is emerging whether or not schools participate.

Tom Vander Ark

Tom Vander Ark is Senior Advisor of Getting Smart. He has written or co-authored more than 50 books and papers including Getting Smart, Smart Cities, Smart Parents, Better Together, The Power of Place and Difference Making. He served as a public school superintendent and the first Executive Director of Education for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
