New Bill in New York Senate Puts Exclusive Pressure on Charters

Hey, so did you see the story about Brooklyn Democrat John Sampson’s bill to put curbs on charter schools? Seems that his work is a little biased, maintaining this myth that charter schools only take the top-performing students so that they look good, leaving special needs students to founder.
The New York Post points out that a Stanford University study proved that in a one-to-one ranking, charter schools out performed their peers, in an “apple to apples” comparison.
We can use data to show where things go right, and where things go wrong. But we should be careful of legislative decisions that have their source in anecdotal evidence, and pressure groups.
