Education Leaders Meet for MIND Research Institute’s Annual Symposium

More than 350 administrators, teachers and philanthropists will join MIND Research Institute, a neuroscience and research-based education non-profit, for its 8th Annual Symposium, Learning Without Boundaries, at the Westin Hotel in Long Beach, Calif. today.
The symposium will feature keynote speakers Tom Vander Ark, author of Getting Smart: How Digital Learning is Changing the World and former Education Director for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; Dr. Greg Duncan, Distinguished Professor at UC Irvine and expert in the long-term impact of investment in early math learning; Christopher Steinhauser, Superintendent of Long Beach Unified; and Dr. Matthew Peterson, Co-founder of MIND and creator of ST Math.
Symposium sessions will focus on blended learning, game-based learning, Common Core State Standards, STEM (science, technology, education and mathematics) initiatives, disruptive innovation and tablet computing. Combining the latest findings in neuroscience and math proficiency, MIND’s ST Math software is breaking down boundaries in education, blending face-to-face learning with online instruction for enhanced interactive learning.
Symposium sponsors include Google Chrome and Microsemi Corporation. Additionally, State Farm Insurance will present a $45,000 check to support ST Math® programs in Orange County, Los Angeles and Silicon Valley.
