The Virtual Teaching Academy (Featuring a Panel with Tom Vander Ark)
May 20 @ 8:00 am - July 1 @ 5:00 pmFree
Spearheaded by University of Phoenix and Blackboard, the Alliance for Virtual Learning is a collective of leading experts with a mission of helping educators create a blueprint for the future of virtual education that meets the academic and emotional needs of all students. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, educators across the country have been scrambling to find ways to maintain learning continuity for students, often without a clear framework for success that has all students engaged in meaningful learning. The Alliance believes that a comprehensive, long-term approach to virtual learning is crucial to student success for the upcoming school year, and are joining forces to help districts gain the ability to seamlessly shift to virtual schooling whenever needed.
The Alliance is providing a series of free, online interactive events this summer that are designed to help teachers and administrators adapt to the new virtual learning landscape. These sessions will be led by a team of K-12 education experts who will deliver comprehensive insights with the goal of helping attendees create a blueprint for the future of K-12.
The events will feature leading K-12 educators and experts in virtual learning, including:
- Pat Hoge. Vice President of Education and Learning for Port Discovery Children’s Museum
- Tom Vander Ark, CEO of Getting Smart and author of “Getting Smart: How Digital Learning is Changing the World”
- Tom will be on a panel on 6/17 from 12 -1:30 ET.
- Heath Morrison, 2012 National Superintendent of the Year
