AASA Webinar | What Works: Keys to Reopening: Strong Culture + Strong Infrastructure
June 30 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pmFree
A strong values-based culture, a focus on social and emotional learning, and really good technology infrastructure set the stage for a successful transition to remote learning and forms the backbone of reopening plans in two big school districts: El Paso, Texas, and Jefferson County, Colo. In El Paso, Juan Cabrera created a clear portrait of a graduate, a focus on active learning, strong support for SEL and a well-managed 1:1 program, which made for a successful transition to remote learning. The Jeffco Generations plan guided Colorado’s largest district to support decentralized school plans built on a common infrastructure. With anticipatory planning, Jason Glass led a smooth transition to remote learning and has a strong plan in place to reopen schools. After leading her home district of Hickman-Mills, Mo., Yolanda Cargile is moving next door to Center School District, where she plans to build on a strong tradition with a focus on real-world learning. With Tom Vander Ark of Getting Smart, these three superintendents will discuss how their strong cultures, focuses on high engagement learning and robust infrastructures will support reopening plans in the fall.
