GSV Launches American Revolution 2.0

GSV Advisors released the white paper “American Revolution 2.0: How Education Innovation is Going to Revitalize America and Transform the U.S. Economy,” which takes a close look at the climate of education and the latest trends on the horizon of innovation, this week.
The paper outlines:

  • The number of students enrolled in K-12 public, private, charter schools in the U.S.
  • The funding allotted in the U.S. and global markets for various sectors of education; and
  • Shocking facts about college readiness in the U.S before diving into the history.
Taking a look back, GSV evaluates the history of American education through the First American Revolution, globalization, the Internet era, and more leading us to the major trends of today, which include the following:
  • Mobile learning
  • Free and Freemium
  • Adaptive and personalized learning
  • Big Data
  • Open source (OER)
  • Brain science, and more.
GSV proposes an American Revolution 2.0, which takes a “building block” approach to revamping education over the course of the next 15 years. The proposal includes the adoption of Common Core State Standards, a renewed focus on innovation, an emphasis on the return of education (ROE), the embrace of choice, and more. The goal is to drive American students to the global top in STEM, completion rates, and performance.
