2014 Educelerate Conference: Post-Secondary Startups in Success

Building on last year’s first Chicago Startup Weekend Education (SWEDU) is the 2014 Educelerate Conference: Post-Secondary Start-ups in Success. This addition to the Chicago Startup Weekend Education will gather leading education designers, administrators and entrepreneurs for a one-day convening on innovations in education.
Taking place the day before SWEDU, the all-day conference features seven interactive panels, professional development and networking opportunities with thought leading speakers and moderators. Welcome Address by Howard Tullman with his thoughts on education and innovation, including his experience with Kendall College, Tribeca Flashpoint Academy and now at 1871.
School as a Service
Supporting not for profit schools move online with the leaders of Deltak, All Campus, Synergis Education, and Everspring Partners (moderated by Corey Greendale of First Analysis).
Competence and Experience
Instituting innovative approaches like CBL and PLA, with the actual lead designers of these programs at Capella University (Flex Path), DePaul School for New Learning (CAEA), Mozilla Open Badges, National Louis University, the University of Wisconsin (Flexible Option) (moderated by the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning).
Balancing Student Access and Success
Navigating the opportunities and challenges of open enrollment and non-traditional students with the academic leaders of Apollo Education Group, DeVry University, National Louis University and Western Governor’s University (moderated by the Joyce Foundation).

Transitioning to digital and OER as explained by the leaders of RedShelf, ED MAP, the University of Illinois Chicago Bookstore, Packback Books, and our moderator from the National Association of College Stores.

Exploiting opportunities to disrupt legacy education platforms with the founders of BenchPrep, Starter League (Lantern), Decision Desk and our moderator, noted education entrepreneur and innovation leader Ray Henderson.
NextED
Reflections and predictions on the state of higher education from noted education entrepreneurs Ron Packard and Jack Larson.
Stay throughout the weekend for SWEDU where in 54 hours participants will share ideas, form teams, build products and launch education startups. Educelerate Conference proceeds will support in funding a SWEDU team that best addresses the unique challenges of non-traditional students. The winning team at SWEDU will be invited in by the new DV X EdTeach Incubator at 1871.
