Most schools and districts can agree that digital technology plays an important role in student learning- but when it comes to best practices for choosing and purchasing that technology, consensus doesn’t come easily. Because there are so many looking for guidance when it comes to buying EdTech for their school or district – we knew it was time for the next white paper in the Smart Series, “Smart Series Guide to EdTech Procurement.”
Digital Learning Now! (DLN) in association with Getting Smart and with contributions from The Learning Accelerator and Curriculum Associates, launched the “Smart Series Guide to EdTech Procurement.” This is the 10th paper in the DLN Smart Series and features the expertise of John Bailey, executive director of DLN, Carri Schneider, director of policy and research at Getting Smart, and Tom Vander Ark, CEO at Getting Smart, as well as that of contributing authors Rob Waldron, CEO of Curriculum Associates, and Daniel Owens, partner at the Learning Accelerator.
These 5 authors will come together for an interactive discussion on the implication of the paper this Friday morning, 8:00amPT/11:00amPT on a Google Hangout on Air. To watch the HangOut live, just follow this link to the Event Page on Friday morning. Anyone can watch this live streamed discussion as the authors will be welcoming questions from viewers throughout the event- just type them into the chat box. After some discussion of the paper, these questions will be fielded by authors during the second half of the hour hangout.
By spending an hour together in a Google HangOut on Air, the authors hope to add even more context and meaning to the paper so that Edleaders can have access the best information out there before making their own purchasing decisions. Hear about great examples of schools from all over the country “doing it right.” Learn how schools are saving money by using pooled purchasing and other creative tactics. Ask direct questions about current education policy- what it means and what impact will it have on your own school or district. Find out how to simplify this process from edleaders who have been there already and want to share the lessons learned.
So mark you calendars, go to the Smart EdTech Requires Buying Smart event page and click the “yes” button. Looking forward to seeing you back there on Friday morning in order to provide the answers you need to start purchasing, confident that you are getting the most for your students.
