Before online learning, it was just called distance learning and that concept can be traced back as far as 1840! “Sir Issac Pitman, the English inventor of shorthand, came up with an ingenious idea for delivering instruction to a potentially limitless audience: correspondence courses by mail.” Oh how far we’ve come! This infographic illustrates some of the history of learning on line and traces it’s journey into today’s higher ed environment. And, although we have come a very long way, we need to know where we are coming from because still have so much farther to go.
