Council for Economic Education Hosts K-12 Video Contest: What Should the Next President Do to Improve the Economy?

News Release: Council for Economic Education Hosts Facebook Video Classroom Contest: What Should the Next President Do to Improve the Economy? NEW YORK, September 18, 2012 –‐ The Council for Economic Education (CEE) is holding a video contest asking students in kindergarten through 12th grade, via their teachers, for the best economic advice they can give our new President, whoever that may be. Teachers can record one student, or a group of students, answering the question “What Should the Next President Do to Improve the Economy?” and submit their video responses via Facebook. The state of the economy is perhaps the single most important issue for voters this election season, but the fiscal decisions made today will also have an impact on future generations. CEE’s election contest gives students the opportunity to weigh in on the economy they’ll one day inherit. In a minute or less, students can present their best ideas individually, or enlist their classmates to help tell the story. One winner will be chosen by CEE Facebook fans (“Viewers’ Choice”), and at least one winner will be chosen by several economists selected as judges by CEE (“Economists’ Choice”). Prizes include a $500 American Express gift card for each teacher winner, and $25 iTunes gift cards for the student(s) featured in the winning videos. Download a Word doc of the rules here. A sample video and FAQ are available on CEE’s Facebook page. Video Submission Period Currently open for submissions Closes: Tuesday, October 2, 2012, 11:59 p.m. EST Public Voting Period Starts: Wednesday, October 3, 2012, 9:00 a.m. EST Ends: Thursday, October 18, 2012, 11:59 p.m. EST
