The past year has marked tremendous change in education law in New York State and nationally. The panel will discuss the possibility of transforming public education over the next five years, including the impact of the Obama administration’s Race to the Top program; changes in education law, teacher evaluation, tenure, and contracts; charter schools; and the greater integration of children with special needs in New York and around the country. The panel will be wide-ranging and seek to move beyond the traditional debate to a broader discussion of reform and possibility.
